VIZIANAGARAM: The Vizianagaram police arrested a CA (Chartered Accountancy) course dropout, Kota Vijay Krishna, who took the crime route for money by adopting a unique modus operandi.
Inspector of One-Town police station, Bendi Venkata Rao said that 28-year-old Vijay Krishna is a native of Koppalapalem village in Bapatla district. Vijay Krishna is a CA dropout and due to family disputes, he came out from his family and he visited parts of north Andhra Pradesh on a bike. The youngster has chosen a crime route for easy money to meet his requirements.
Vijay Krishna noticed mobile phone numbers on the "To Let" boards. Later, he made calls to the numbers and posed himself as their family member and friend and asked them for money citing that he is in trouble.
Believing the words of Vijay Krishna, three people from Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts, transferred Rs 88,000 to an account. Later, they realized that they were cheated in May this year, Venkat Rao added.
Based on the complaint from the victims, the police led by Venkata Rao, Sub-Inspector V Ashok Kumar investigated the case and got a small clue for further investigation.
The investigation has revealed that the bank account belonged to a commission agent, who collects 5 to 10 percent from Vijay Krishna on every deposit in the account. Based on the concrete clues, we have nabbed the accused and recovered Rs57,000 from the accused.
Targeting the To Let boards, Vijay made calls to over 1,000 people and the investigation is on to spell out the number of the victims in the peculiar case, Venkat Rao added. The police appealed to the people to be aware of the new trends of the crimes in the region.
