UDAIPUR: Four men in a car abducted a 40-year-old woman on the pretext of giving her a lift in Udaipur on Wednesday night. They allegedly gang-raped her in the moving car. After assaulting her with an iron rod, the perpetrators abandoned her in a deserted area and fled.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Pratapnagar police station area.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived and took the woman to the hospital. A case of gang rape, abduction, and assault was registered. The victim reported that she came to Pratapnagar for some work on Wednesday.
Around 9pm, she was waiting for a vehicle at the intersection to return home. After a long wait, she asked for a lift from four men in a car. Once in the car, the men did not stop when they reached her destination. The assailants took her towards Dabok.
On the way, two men sitting in the rear assaulted her and allegedly gang-raped her in the moving car. They took her near a college, beat her with an iron rod, and then abandoned her on the road in a deserted area before fleeing.
DySP Chagan Purohit stated that authorities are thoroughly examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas. He assured that the accused will be arrested soon and brought to justice.
