Trichy: Two men were arrested by the Trichy district police for sexually assaulting minor girls in their neighbourhood. Police identified the accused as C Hariharan and C Harish, 25, both twins. They were working as daily wagers.
On March 2 and 3, the accused brothers took the girls to their home and sexually assaulted them. The girls shared the incident to their parents on March 5. The survivors were admitted to a govt hospital. Subsequently, parents lodged a complaint with all women police station and a case was registered against the twins.
Police arrested the twins under the Pocso Act and judicially remanded them before transporting them to Trichy Central Prison on Friday. While approaching a remote area on Trichy-Namakkal highway, the accused brothers attempted to escape police custody and fractured one leg each.
