SURAT: After
Sonu Nigam’s tweets on the use of
loudspeakers for azaan
in mosques sparked off a controversy across the country, now it’s the turn of
Bollywood music
director
Ismail Darbar to follow up the singer.
During his visit to the Diamond City to accept the living legend — music director — award at the hands of chief minister
Vijay Rupani at Gujma Cultural Fest-2017 on Thursday, Ismail Darbar pointed that it doesn’t suit a respected singer like Sonu to comment on azaan in the mosques. “He (Sonu) is nothing without loudspeaker, music and audience. So, he can’t comment on the moulvis delivering the azaan on loudspeaker, calling out the Muslim brethren for namaaz.”
Darbar added, “I am soon going to meet Sonu Nigam and ask him why he feels the azaan is so disturbing when he himself can’t do without a mike. He performs live on the stage shows, which may be annonying to others.” Darbar went on to say that Sonu Nigam should consider changing his house from that area, where the sound of azaan annoys him.
