Patna: The ongoing discord within the Paswan family escalated on Sunday as Union minister Chirag Paswan levelled serious accusations against his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, president of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) and former Union minister. Chirag alleged that his uncle was conspiring to seize ancestral property in Khagaria.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Chirag demanded a fair division of family assets. "But he must also declare all his nami and benami properties located in Delhi and Noida and specify which ones he wants to have," he said.
Chirag accused his uncle of subjecting his family to harassment following the death of his father, Ram Vilas Paswan. "First, he got my mother, Reena Paswan, removed from the Delhi bungalow with political ambitions of becoming a Union Minister. Now, under economic ambitions, he is trying to evict my ‘Badi Ma', Rajkumari Devi, from her home in Khagaria," Chirag alleged. Rajkumari Devi is the first wife of the late Ram Vilas Paswan.
Expressing shock, Chirag said his uncle's alleged actions amounted to an attempt to wrest control of his mother's assets. On Saturday, Chirag visited the ancestral house in Khagaria to check on the condition of his "Badi Ma".
Dismissing the allegations as politically motivated, RLJP spokesperson Shrawan Agarwal said, "Chirag has stooped so low that he is bringing the family disputes into the public," and challenged him to prove his claims.
Mocking Chirag's professed affection for his "Badi Ma", Agarwal added, "If Chirag is so concerned about her, he must give half shares in all the properties he declared in his election affidavits." He also suggested that Chirag take Rajkumari Devi to Delhi for proper treatment. "He came to know about her only after losing power in 2021. Prior to that, he didn't know about Rajkumari Devi," Agarwal alleged.
