Women must develop leadership skills: Minister
Mandya: Women must develop leadership skills to achieve social development, said district Minister N Cheluvarayaswamy. Speaking at the inauguration of the International Women's Day Celebration 2025 at Ambedkar Bhavan on Tuesday, he emphasised that women have always held a respected place in the society.
He added, "The development of women leads to the development of both the family and the nation. Women need to be prepared to take on leadership roles as members of the Legislative Assembly and Parliament."
"Women face challenges with patience and solve problems. They need to enhance their knowledge to make things easier for themselves," he advised and highlighted the govt's guarantee schemes have empowered women economically.
Mandya MLA P Ravikumar, who also spoke on the occasion, said that many people improved their lives due to the Gruha Lakshmi scheme and assured that the govt always prioritises women's empowerment.
‘Women should stand for welfare of other women'
Speaking at the same event, Union minister HD Kumaraswamy said, "It is a matter of national pride that women today are achieving greater success than men in all fields. Women should stand firmly for the welfare of other women and make the best use of govt schemes." He also praised the district for organising events for women, incorporating rural traditions and modern competitions to encourage women. He suggested that women in every village should meet once a week, discuss govt schemes, raise awareness, and take full advantage of the schemes implemented by both the Centre and State govts.
ZP CEO KR Nandini stated that this year, various competitions like cricket, kabaddi, and extempore speech were organised at both the taluk and district levels, providing a platform to showcase the talents of women.
