MUMBAI: Former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, who retired on June 30, 2022, approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) late last year challenging his December 2021 suspension by the Maharashtra government and seeking release of his dues.

He petitioned that the period of suspension from December 2, 2021, till his retirement be considered as regular duty period for all his retiral dues, including gratuity and pension.

Singh alleged bias and said he was “made a target” and victimised for having written to then CM Uddhav Thackeray about the alleged misconduct of his home minister Anil Deshmukh.

Singh, represented by advocate S Sunil before CAT, had argued that since the Bombay HC had ordered the preliminary probe by the CBI, the state had no jurisdiction to suspend him.
