Lucknow: Barabanki police on Sunday arrested two people for assaulting a 22-year-old man and humiliating him by urinating on him, due to which he ended his life on Friday.
According to police, Yogendra Kumar of Gobarha Karauni village in Barabanki had painted the house of Ram Kumar alias Ramu Dwivedi in Sultanpur district and had pending dues of Rs 3,500.
Two days before Holi, Yogendra visited Ram Kumar's house and asked for payment. However, instead of settling his dues, Ramkumar, and his brothers Manish, Sonu, Kallu, Ambreesh, and Mohan, assaulted Yogendra and allegedly urinated on him.
The victim's father, Rakesh Mishra, informed the police that Yogendra returned home after the incident and told his mother about the humiliation.
On Holi, the accused assaulted Yogendra again. Later in the evening, Yogendra was found hanging from a tree.
His father lodged a complaint, alleging that his son was murdered, and his body was hanged to mislead the police.
Barabanki additional superintendent of police Akhilesh Narayan Singh visited the grieving family and assured strict action against the accused. He confirmed that a post-mortem report indicated death by hanging and added that investigation into the alleged humiliation is on.
Police have arrested Ram Kumar and Manish in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused.
