Goon wrecks cars, attacks youth; locals beat him up in Kolhapur’s Rajarampuri

Kolhapur: On Sunday night, around 10.30pm, an on-record goon was beaten up till he lost consciousness for fearmongering, vandalising and attacking a youth, Rajarampuri police said.
The accused, allegedly in inebriated state, injured the youth with a sword and vandalised a few vehicles parked in the locality of Pathrud Galli in CSIBER Chowk area of Kolhapur city.
Angered by this, local residents caught and hit Ajay Pathrud, the accused goon, leaving him unconscious. Both the accused and attacked youth are currently hospitalised at CPR Hospital.
The injured youth's father registered a complaint with the Rajarampuri police early on Monday morning.
A Rajarampuri police officer said a drunk Ajay on Sunday night was trying to create fear among local residents by brandishing a sword and started vandalising vehicles in the lane with the weapon. Residents gathered and tried to oppose Ajay, but he attacked the youth, Srinand Mahadev Vadar, with the sword. Srinand was left with a deep wound on his left ear.
The locals then beat up Ajay, who suffered serious injuries to his head. Both of them were rushed to CPR hospital where they are undergoing treatment.
