Ease of movement: Wider, 1-way road in Sakchi soon
The area where this road is being widened has four big schools in the vicinity due to which in peak hours often there is traffic chaos when parents and pool vehicles stop by the road side, blocking a major chunk of the pathway, to drop or pick up students from the respective education institutions.
To add to the maddening traffic, this road is also used by inter-district and inter-state buses along with all forms of private vehicles of the city as it one of the main connecting roads for Bistupur-bound vehicles from Mango side.
As per the officials of the constructing company, the development work would be completed by the end of this month.
Rohit Mahanty, who uses this road four times a day to drop and pick up his son from a private English medium school located here said, “Once the construction is completed, thousands of people like him will heave a sigh of relief because driving on this road was becoming a nightmare as it had become an accident-prone zone of late due to unruly and heavy traffic movement.”
As per estimates, the road is used by around 50,000 motorists each day. According to Jamshedpur police records, the city records around 90 deaths in road accident every month and majority of the victims are in the age group of 30 and below.
