Indore: After a few days of partially cloudy weather, rainfall and thunderstorm activities across the Indore-Ujjain division are set to witness dry weather and a rise in temperatures from Friday. According to the latest forecast by the Met department on Thursday, the system resulting in rainfall activity will fade, and dry weather will prevail from Friday onwards."Several districts reported isolated rainfall, gusty winds, and thunderstorms during the last two days. As the system fades, dry weather is expected to prevail across the state with temperatures rising by 2-4 degrees Celsius from Friday. Parts of North West MP are expected to witness heat waves during the next few days," said Dr Divya E Surendran, Met scientist, IMD Bhopal.On Thursday evening, light thunderstorms with lightning occurred over South Khargone, East Barwani, and parts of Dhar during the night hours. Light thunderstorms with lightning were reported over Burhanpur, South Khargone, West Barwani, Dewas, and South Khandwa districts in the evening hours.Indore witnessed partially cloudy weather during the morning and evening hours on Thursday. The day temperature remained stable at 37.2 degrees Celsius for the third consecutive day. The minimum temperature climbed to 23.2 degrees Celsius, which was four degrees above normal.
Heavy rainfall with hailstorm at Manawar, large quantity of grains damaged at mandiMhow: Dhar's Manawar town received heavy rainfall accompanied by a hailstorm on Wednesday night. Due to the sudden rainfall and hailstorm, large quantities of wheat and grams stocked in the open areas of Krishi Upaj Mandi were badly damaged.Manawar Mandi secretary Radheshyam Mukati told TOI that four heaps of wheat and grams were badly damaged as they were stored on the open ground due to the ongoing summer season. According to the estimate of the Mandi staff, nearly one thousand quintals of wheat and gram were damaged due to water in the night. The value of the damaged grains comes to nearly twenty-two lakh. Mukati said that Mandi is receiving a bumper intake of Rabi crops, due to which much of the procured grains are stored in the open until they are taken away by the traders. He also said that his staff will spread the wet grains under the sun to protect them as much as possible.
