IIT-I to offer MTech programme to Army officers

Indore: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Indore will offer MTech Programme in Communication and Information Systems to Indian Army Officers from Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow from the academic session 2025-26.
The institute has initiated two additional courses Master of Arts in English (Literature and Linguistics) and Bachelor of Design programme from the forthcoming academic year. The M.Tech. Programme shall accommodate 30 seats, Master of Arts in English 10 seats and Bachelor of Design programme 16 seats.
Professor Suhas Joshi, director, IIT Indore said, "We shall offer Bachelor of Design programme, M.Tech. programme in 'Communication and Information Systems' (for MCTE army officers) and Master of Arts in English (Literature and Linguistics). The previous year witnessed substantial developments in major projects and we secured significant projects valued at Rs 40 crore. We have been granted 76 patents, including 02 international patents. In 2024, 35 patents of IIT Indore have received approval for financial assistance."
On the occasion of the IIT-I's 16th Foundation Day celebration on Monday, the institute inaugurated the Transit Lab Complex "Samvardhan Technology Advancement Complex". The institute is establishing a laboratory complex spanning 15,000 sq ft to advance technology innovation and research endeavours.
The transit lab complex encompasses four laboratories constructed across 433 sq m and features a rainwater harvesting facility with an annual catchment capacity of 2.62 lakh litres.
Speaking at the event, chief guest Dr Rajesh Gokhale, Secretary, Department of Bio Technology (DBT), Govt of India said, "If you genuinely contemplate what has transformed in 16 years since the technology innovation commenced, Artificial Intelligence emerges as the foremost advancement. The future shall revolve around digital twins and scalable intelligence. Layering independent components to construct scalable, intelligence systems shall propel the next revolution in biology and bio manufacturing."
On the occasion, the institute acknowledged senior Professors Raghunath Sahoo and Biswarup Pathak for receiving fellowship of the National Academy of Science. Eleven Best Paper Awards were conferred to recognise exceptional scholarly contributions and research excellence that have significantly influenced their respective fields.
