Dada Saheb Phalke
award winner K Vishwanath was accorded a grand reception at the
Rajiv Gandhi International Airport
by the state government on Thursday on his return from Delhi.
The Telugu film director was honoured with the prestigious award by President
Pranab Mukherjee at a function in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on Wednesday.
On chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's instructions, K Vishwanath was accorded a state reception on arrival in Hyderabad. Telangana folk artistes performed various songs and Banjara tribals danced to welcome Vishwanath home along the way from the airport.
Cinematography minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav received Vishwanath at the airport and honoured him. "It is a matter of pride that a Telugu film director has won the prestigious Dada Saheb award," he said. The minister said it was his privilege to be asked by the state government to accord a welcome to a personality like Vishwanath.
