Queeny Nagar bus accident toll increases to two

Vasco: Another person succumbed to injuries on Friday, bringing the total fatalities to two in the Queeny Nagar bus accident. Bhim Kumar Yadav, a native of Uttar Pradesh, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at GMC.The conductor of the bus, Shiva Madar, lost his life in the accident, along with several passengers injured. Madar died on the spot after he was trapped underneath the overcrowded bus.The accident of the Vasco-bound Titan-Verna bus occurred after it overturned near Queeny Nagar, Upasnagar.Verna police have arrested the driver of the bus, Akbar Goji, a resident of Fakirgalli, Vasco, allegedly for allowing excess passengers to board the bus, overcrowding, and permitting some to sit in the cabin. He allegedly drove the bus under the influence of alcohol, in a rash and negligent manner.The driver has been remanded in a three-day police custody.Police sub-inspector Carey Fernandes is further investigating the case under the supervision of police inspector Anand Shirodkar and dySP Gurudas Kadam.
