New tiger spotted in Dodamarg, experts confirm presence of 8
Keri: Recently, wildlifers spotted a tiger in the Hadfade forest in the evening and could successfully capture it on camera.Last year in March villagers travelling on the Talkat-Khadfade-Choukul got pictures of a tigress on a mobile camera. After this incident, villagers from Dodamarg experienced the presence of tigers inside the forested areas on several occasions.Navkishor Reddy, the deputy conservator of forests of the Sawantwadi division in Oct 2024, confirmed the presence of eight tigers in the Sawantwadi-Dodamarg corridor through the camera trap technique installed by his officials in coordination with the wildlife experts.A wildlife photographer, Darshan Vengurlekar successfully captured pictures of the tiger on his camera while trekking through the jungle of Hadfade inside the Tillari river basin that lies at the foothill of Amboli.
Wildlifers, who are constantly studying the tiger population of the Dodamarg-Sawantwadi corridor through the camera trap technique, said that they had not recorded the presence of this tiger. They believe that it might have come to Hadfade from the forest of Goa.
