Hospital in 2 years for Headland Sada: Rane
Vasco: Health minister Vishwajit Rane has promised to set up a 20-bed hospital and dialysis unit at Headland Sada in two years. Rane made the statement in response to the proposal by Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar at a health camp held at Vasco.
Rane said that since the town has a large population, a hospital with essential services is a crucial necessity. “The work on the hospital project and dialysis unit will start soon,” he said.
The camp was organised by senior doctors from GMC and Goa Dental College. In all, 1,136 people — 430 men and 706 women — were screened at the camp for various diseases, including cancer. Additional services such as ECG checks and consultations for diabetes and anaemia were offered.
Around 112 women underwent scanning for breast cancer, and two of them were referred to GMC for further examination.
Of the total people examined, 124 were referred to GMC, nine to South Goa District Hospital, and 84 to the subdistrict hospital at Chicalim, said a senior official who was part of the camp.
