Udhagamandalam: Governor R N Ravi arrived in Ooty on Thursday evening. He reached here from Coimbatore by road via Kotagiri.
The governor will be presiding over the conference of vice-chancellors of state, central and private universities in Tamil Nadu, to be held at Raj Bhavan in Ooty, on Friday.
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who will be the chief guest of the conference, is expected to arrive on Friday morning.
Dhankar will be taking an Indian Air Force chopper from Coimbatore to land at Theettukal helipad near Ooty. He is likely to visit the elephant camp in Theppakadu, located in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve in the Nilgiris, on Saturday forenoon.
Ahead of the VVIPs’ visit, Ooty Raj Bhavan was spruced up. Police conducted a convoy recce in Ooty on Thursday in connection with the Vice-President’s visit to the hill town.
Heavy showers drenched Ooty town for an hour on Thursday evening, making the hill town cooler.
