CHENNAI: A minor fire broke out on the Gandhi Irwin Road outside Chennai Egmore railway station around 2.55 pm on Wednesday, according to Southern Railway.
Fire and rescue services were immediately alerted. They doused the flames by 3.10 pm.
The fire was confined to a telecom cable and did not affect train operations or passenger information systems. Officials confirmed that there was no disruption in services. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
