Big victory for K-dramas as 'S Line' wins award at the 8th Cannes International Series Festival

A new K-drama titled 'S Line' has been doing numbers ever since its announcement. Initially it was shared that the drama has been selected as the best international series in Cannes 2025. In the latest updates, the drama has won at Cannes 2025.
On its conclusion on April 29, 2025, the event concluded with a news of a lifetime. 'S Line' had won an award at Cannes. The drama ended up winning the Best Music Award at the 8th Cannes International Series Festival, as reported by Allkpop.
Lee Jun Oh, the music director of the drama, was awarded this film. The director has been part of various projects so far, but this award at Cannes marks one of his biggest achievements in the industry.
This is also the first time in two years that a K-drama has won at Cannes, making this win historical. The last award was won by ‘Bargain’ in 2023 for the Best Screenplay award in the long-form competition category.
Even before its release, ‘S Line’ has garnered a lot of critical acclaim and is becoming one of the most anticipated K-dramas of 2025 so far. According to the same report, the drama has become more popular due to the fact that it engages the audience and acknowledges more bold themes, in this case of sexual relationships.
The jury at Cannes was specifically impressed by the drama’s mise-en-scène and sound design. It was also pointed out that the way the drama addresses sexual relationships and other related themes on screen was commendable, as it is a sensitive and oftentimes still a taboo subject for most to discuss.
While it has not yet been released to the public, it has already caused a lot of buzz amongst netizens for its unique plotline as well as cast members. Titled as a mystery and suspense-themed drama, it follows a woman who develops the unique ability to see the ‘red line’. This line connects people to those they’ve had sexual relationships with.
It follows detective Han Ji Wook, who wants to know the truth behind these red lines; Kyu Jin, a quirky high school teacher; and lastly, Hyun-Hob, the girl who has had the ability to see these lines around her since she was born. The main cast stars of the K-drama are Lee Soo Hyuk, Lee Da Hee and Oh My Girl's Arin.
