Social media is already filled with numerous speculations, which now gained momentum with the promotional cover for the upcoming Volume 42. A closer observation of the cover hints, however, at the series' legacy and Deku as a hero.
The Volume 42 cover mirrors the series' first volume but with key differences: Deku now takes All Might's place as the central figure, Dai replaces Deku in the foreground, and the subtitle shifts from “Izuku Midoriya’s Origin” to “I’m Here.” This symbolism reflects Deku’s growth into the Symbol of Peace and hints at Dai’s eventual role as his successor. These changes emphasize the evolution of the core narrative of 'My Hero Academia', how the One for all quirk evolves with each user.
Unlike the iconic, larger-than-life superhero pose of All Might in Volume 1, Deku on Volume 42 is just a young adult-an unassuming figure whose humility has always defined his heroism. All Might's persona, which had been shaped by his mentor's belief that a hero should "never let them see you sweat," had always concealed his struggles.
