Samsung may debut its first-ever 3nm chipsets on these devices

Samsung is expected to introduce its first-ever 3nm chipset in its upcoming Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy Watch 7. In 2022, the South Korean tech giant announced that it had started producing chips on a 3nm process back. The company claimed that these chips saw a 45% reduction in power consumption compared to its 5nm process.
According to a report by Business Korea, Samsung is planning to bring the next 3nm-based Exynos chip to the Galaxy S25 series which is expected to release in 2025.Meanwhile, another report claims that the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 models may also come powered by a chip built on the company’s 3nm process.

Samsung Galaxy devices with 3nm chips: What to expect


Just like this year’s models, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25+ smartphones may powered by the 3nm-based Exynos 2500 chip for the global market. However, the Galaxy S24 series uses both Qualcomm and Samsung chips.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 globally, while the S24 and S24+ use Snapdragon in the US and select other regions, but Exynos 2400 in many other regions including India.
Rumours suggest that Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chipset may surpass Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in “aspects such as power efficiency.”

Meanwhile, Samsung is also reportedly planning to bring three new models for the upcoming Galaxy Watch 7 series which may include -- a Galaxy Watch 7 Pro, Galaxy Watch 7 and an FE variant.

A report by The Korea Economic Daily suggests that Samsung may call the 3nm-based chipset for its smartwatch models the Exynos W1000. The process Samsung is using is reportedly a second-generation architecture, which furthers the possibility of power improvement.

As per the report, the Galaxy Watch’s new Exynos W1000 chip will bring a 20% faster performance and power efficiency boost. Earlier rumours suggested that the new SoC may bring a 30% power increase and a 50% efficiency boost.
