is searching for a new head of North American public affairs with connections to President Donald Trump's administration and the Republican Party, according to a South Korean newspaper report published Friday, Match 7.
The technology giant is looking to replace current public affairs chief Mark Lippert, who is expected to resign, DongA Ilbo reported, citing unnamed industry sources. Lippert, who served as US ambassador to South Korea during the Obama administration, was hired by Samsung in 2022 while former President Joe Biden was in office.
When contacted about the report, a Samsung spokesperson stated the company does not comment on speculation. Lippert did not immediately respond to a request for comments, Reuters reports.
Apple, Meta, and other tech giants also adjusting their strategies to build better relationship with the US President Trump
This potential leadership change comes as several major technology companies appear to be adjusting their strategies to build better relationships with Trump's second administration. Industry observers note that tech firms are increasingly aligning business decisions with the administration's priorities.
Other tech giants have been making similar adjustments to their Washington strategy. Meta has modified its content moderation policies on politically sensitive topics, while companies like Apple and Amazon have announced investments in US manufacturing and infrastructure that align with Trump's economic agenda.
