Instagram's service has been fully restored across the United States following a significant outage that affected tens of thousands of users on Thursday evening, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
The Meta-owned social media platform experienced widespread disruptions beginning around 7:30 PM ET on Thursday, with more than 31,000 users reporting issues at the peak of the outage. By Friday morning, reported incidents had dropped to fewer than 400, indicating normal service has resumed for most users.
According to Downdetector's data, approximately 72% of affected users experienced problems with the Instagram app itself, while 24% reported server connection issues during the outage period.
Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the cause of the disruption, which lasted approximately 12 hours for some users. The company has not yet issued an official statement about the technical issues that led to the service interruption.
Instagram users across social media expressed relief as the service returned to normal operations, with many having turned to alternative platforms like Twitter to confirm the widespread nature of the outage.
