"This has to stop": Rangers' Matt Rempe's penalty controversy sparks outrage after second questionable call

Matt Rempe, one of the most talented and popular players in the New York Rangers, has been facing a tough time after he was penalised twice this week. Recently, a video of the talented player has gone viral where fans and experts are convinced that Matt Rempe was penalised for the second time for no fault of his and this has sparked a debate.


Recently, the New York Rangers defeated the Minnesota Wild, but what took the attention away from the match was the way Minnesota Wild’s Devin Shore skated into Matt Rempe while looking the other way and yet Rempe was the one who was penalised for it.
A fan took to X and wrote, “He is getting penalized for being Rempe. This has to stop. 2 games in a row with questionable calls ? Cmon”, while another fan wrote, “What a flop too lol. Should have been embellishment on Minnesota”.

A third fan wrote, “Good god this is bad. Rempe simply can't be on the ice anymore if this is being called against him. What a f**king joke”, while another fan wrote, “Every f**king game. The fix is in. The refs have all gotten together and decided they won’t let this young man play hockey. He’s actually a very good player.”

The New York Rangers’ head coach, Peter Laviolette, spoke about this in a recent interview. As per the New York Post, Peter Laviolette said, “The size of him, the way he plays the game, it just draws attention. It's unfortunate because sometimes, like tonight, he's not really doing anything and he's in the box."
The penalty that Matt Rempe received during the match against the Minnesota Wild is the second penalty that he received this week. On Tuesday, at the match against the Winnipeg Jets, Matt Rempe got a goaltender interference penalty even though many fans and experts felt that it was not really his fault.
In the videos that have gone viral, fans feel it was the Winnipeg Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck who pushed him into it.
