Weegar retorted on X, accusing the podcasters of fabricating criticisms. Fans defended Weegar, highlighting his effective play and suggesting he's still in his prime. Some fans even called for his return to the Florida Panthers.

Weegar’s reply was - “Sometimes when I run out of stuff to say, I just start making things up, too.?br/>This means MacKenzie Weegar is saying that the hosts of the Flames Nation are making things up about MacKenzie Weegar - just because they don’t have anything else to say or any other topic to discuss! Just because they have run out of words, topics, or options! What a retort.
