Ole Miss quarterback and 2025 NFL Draft prospect Jaxson Dart is generating early buzz in the draft process, with some analysts believing he has the potential to sneak into the first round.
Dart significantly boosted his draft stock with a standout performance at the Senior Bowl, impressing both in practices and during the game itself. As things stand, he's projected to be the third quarterback off the board, trailing Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.
With the NFL Combine still ahead, Dart has a prime opportunity to solidify himself as a late first-round option. TWSN’s Marissa Myers envisions him landing with the Seattle Seahawks, a team she predicts will move on from veteran quarterback Geno Smith.
"Dart is able to blend his throwing ability with his rushing ability as well to truly be a headache for opposing teams as well," Myers wrote. "With all that, he provides Seattle with an even higher ceiling for 2025 while also building the roster for the future." (via: Sporting News)

Lane Kiffin’s game plan fuels Ole Miss’s college Football aspirations Seattle’s tough call: Stick with Geno Smith or move on?
Smith has been a reliable presence under center for Seattle over the past three seasons, reviving his career in the process. However, he hasn’t been able to guide the team to a playoff victory, and the Seahawks have now missed the postseason in back-to-back years.
Given that Smith is a holdover from the previous regime, new head coach Mike Macdonald could opt to bring in his own quarterback, a fresh face to lead the franchise moving forward.
Financially, Seattle faces a challenge. According to Over the Cap, the Seahawks are projected to be $6.5 million over the cap in 2025. Cutting Smith would not only make them cap-compliant by freeing up $31 million, but it would also provide general manager John Schneider with crucial flexibility to upgrade the roster.
The dilemma? Moving on from Smith leaves Seattle without a clear answer at quarterback. The team would be left with Sam Howell and Jaren Hall, with no guarantee of landing Dart in the draft. Even if the Seahawks manage to select him, there’s no certainty he’ll be ready to start immediately.
A more practical scenario would be Seattle retaining Smith for the final year of his contract while drafting a young quarterback like Dart to develop behind the two-time Pro Bowler. This approach allows the Seahawks to stay competitive in the short term while securing a potential franchise quarterback for the future.
