Veteran NFL sideline reporter Erin Andrews is at the crossroads of her career with news pending on her future with FOX Sports. Having just finished covering the 2024 NFL season, which concluded in a dramatic Super Bowl LIX, Andrews is spending the off-season looking back on her career, while also staying active with new projects. Her FOX contract remains unrenewed, so fans are left speculating on whether she will continue her legendary sideline spot or start a new phase.

Erin Andrews reflects on emotional Patrick Mahomes interview and explores new opportunities

One of the biggest highlights of Andrews' season came during FOX’s coverage of Super Bowl LIX, where she landed an exclusive pre-game interview with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. On her Calm Down podcast with Charissa Thompson, she described the rare opportunity as a “pinch-me moment.”
"I interviewed Mahomes right before kickoff... it was just really, really cool for me," she shared, admitting that the experience was deeply emotional. Getting such close access to the Chiefs’ superstar was a privilege, and it underscored why she loves being in the thick of the action.

However, the game itself was brutal for Kansas City. Mahomes was sacked six times as the Chiefs suffered a crushing 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The emotional weight of the defeat was evident, especially when Andrews consoled a devastated Travis Kelce after the game. Hugging the tight end, she whispered, “I'm so sorry. I love you.” That raw moment resonated with fans, showing the deep relationships she’s built over the years.
With her contract expiring after the Super Bowl, Andrews is embracing the uncertainty. She previously acknowledged the realities of sports broadcasting, telling Thompson, “Enjoy it, because it’s not going to last forever, especially when your contract is up—and mine is.”

Notwithstanding the uncertainty, she isn't letting up. She just competed in Skate for LA Strong on February 23, a benefit for the L.A. Fire Relief Fund. This has fueled rumors that she is considering a shift into NHL coverage—a development that already has some fans on social media speculating.
Outside of sports, Andrews is keeping busy balancing her hit Calm Down podcast, caring for her toddler with husband Jarret Stoll, and promoting cancer screenings—a very personal mission given her own fight against cancer.

Though her FOX future is unclear, one fact is evident: Erin Andrews isn't going out of the sports world anytime soon. If she comes back to the NFL sidelines or starts anew—maybe with NBC or Prime Video—her next step will be watched closely.
