“Destined to fall on your face”: Stephen A. Smith’s comments on Shannon Sharpe's scandal raise eyebrows after co-host’s fallout

Shannon Sharpe, the NFL legend, shocked the world of sports after he was accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a young woman he had met at a gym in 2023. The young woman who is using the pseudonym Jane Doe to appear in the media has also leaked phone call recordings between her and Shannon Sharpe and has accused the NFL legend of “threatening” her. While Shannon Sharpe has denied such allegations and has revealed that the two were in a consensual relationship, his co-host on ESPN’s First Take, Stephen A. Smith, raised eyebrows with his recent statements about the scandal.


Recently, famous analyst Stephen A. Smith appeared on his YouTube show, “The Stephen A. Smith Show” and opened up about how he has never been involved in a scandal like his other co-host on First Take.
Stephen A. Smith spoke about the responsibilities one has to carry when one is working under someone.
Stephen A. Smith said, “This is my podcast. This is my YouTube show. I own this. But, if you think for one second that I can just do what I want to do when I want to do it and how I want to do it and there’s not going to be any repercussions, you’re clueless and you’re destined to fail and fall on your face.”
He added, “I’m not talking about Shannon Sharpe. I’m not talking about anybody in particular. I’m talking about a climate that we’re living in. Some people sit up there, look at me, and they say, ‘Stephen A. don’t get himself in this kind of trouble. How does he pull it off?’ Well, first of all. There’s certain behaviors and proclivities that you never have to worry about me engaging in.”
Stephen A. Smith’s statements on long time friend and co-host Shannon Sharpe have been shocking. Many fans have trolled the sports analyst for making such statements when Shannon Sharpe has run into legal trouble.


A fan took to X and posted, “Stephen didn’t just throw Shannon under the bus, he stopped, backed up and ran him over LMAO”, while another fan wrote, “Be careful. You become what you mocked. Shannon Sharpe is wrong, and he needs to work on himself. However, this is not the opportunity to mock him. Say your peace, and leave it alone. Let Shannon work out his issues.”
Stephen A. Smith has previously clarified that he believes Shannon Sharpe and does not believe the sexual assault scandal that the NFL legend has found himself in.
Currently, Shannon Sharpe has stepped down from ESPN as fans keep trolling him.
