It's almost Christmas season and it's all about giving and receiving gifts to make the festive spirit more beautiful. And, it's also the time when NFL QBs love giving expensive gifts to their offensive linemen. For the whole season, they safeguard the QBs and return gifts that must be there, right? San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is not lagging behind in showing his generosity as he gifted his linemen brand-new cars for Christmas.
Brock Purdy’s Festive Spirit: Gifting Toyota Trucks to 49ers Offensive Linemen
During these holidays, quarterbacks usually take time to appreciate their offensive linemen for the excellent job they do on the field. Brock Purdy, the young San Francisco 49ers signal-caller, did use a very huge surprise this year to thoroughly disappoint his offensive line teammates.
Purdy, who as the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft is still in a rookie contract, canceled everything this year on the Christmas gift he planned for the men who would protect him on the field. In a heartwarming video shared by the 49ers on X, Purdy comes in with his offensive linemen and gives them 10 brand new Toyotas.
As he handed over the keys, he said, “Merry Christmas guys. 'Preciate you guys. Thanks for all y'all do.”
This surprise video featured eight members of the offensive line, Aaron Banks, Jaylon Moore, Nick Zakelj, Jake Brendel, Spencer Burford, Colton McKivitz, and Ben Bartch, expressing their sincere excitement and gratitude for the thoughtful gift. This gesture was more of a way to show appreciation for protecting Purdy all season with their bodies than shielding them from dealership award-interest rates and use of subprime credit scores.
Purdy's giving nature is well-timed as he is currently under a modest rookie contract, on which he has a base salary of $985,000 for the 2024 season. It may not be a top-notch contract, but he has already signed an endorsement with Toyota and has been featured in several commercials from the time he joined Nacional, giving credence to that relationship with the company. In fact, Purdy drove a Toyota Sequoia while he went up, so he was kind of living with offensive lineman Nick Zakelj as a roommate during that ascent.
This has been quite a tough one for Purdy; he hasn't been able to completely match the Pro Bowl form he displayed in 2023 and obtaining a Super Bowl trophy at the end of it all. That being said, he still showed himself to be worth it and a proper quarterback by completing 65 percent of his passes for 3,174 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions through 13 starts in 2024.
