Irish fighter Conor McGregor, also known as “The Notorious,” has not only garnered a reputation from his exceptional fighting skills inside the ring but also for his equally degrading behavior in public. Over the years, McGregor has faced numerous legal actions and lawsuits owing to his unlawful acts. The charges included sexual assault, physical assault, strong-armed robbery and others. Recently, the fighter came into the news for spitting on a fan’s face when the latter praised Khabib Nurmagomedov. Former British boxing legendChris Eubank recently took to his YouTube channel and criticized the Irish fighter for the disrespectful behavior.

Former British boxing legend comments on McGregor’s latest controversy, calling his actions disgraceful and a poor example for the upcoming generation of athletes.

The feud between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov was fueled mostly by the former’s loss to Khabib at UFC 229. Ever since, both fighters have been in a constant tussle with each other. This even included McGregor attacking the player’s bus at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. McGregor was later pressed with assault charges. Similarly, in February 2025, one of the fans instigated the Irish player, chanting, “Let’s go Khabib”. In response to this, McGregor walks up to the fan and spits on his face, saying, “I spit in your face, what you do? Nothing.”

While critics and many others have reacted to this act, it is actually former British boxer Chris Eubank’s comment on the behavior that has garnered the attention of fans and readers. This is primarily because the same boxer had appreciated McGregor for his skills within the ring.
“I don’t watch a lot of news, but I saw [Conor McGregor] spat in the face of someone who said something unkind to him. Is this what we are? Is this who we are? Is this what we’re going to teach? I’m the big guy from Ireland, I’m the Celtic warrior, and you spit in the face of a stranger… This is the example you are teaching the youth in Ireland. This is disgraceful…”
He went on to add how the display of such behaviors would reflect poorly on the part of combat sports fighters, “We can’t do that. We have to understand the consequences of it. You’re turning your own people, or people who love you because of your style…throwing a chair at a [bus], showing the madman that you are… I’ve looked at your behavior; you’re proving yourself to be what we knew is behind that type of behavior.”
