The MLB world came to a jolt when the former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gradner’s son Miller was found dead in his hotel room. Reportedly, Miller Gardner was on a vacation with his family including his father in Costa Rica when the unfortunate incident took place.

Yankees captain Aaron Judge paid homage to Miller Gardner, the late son of former Bronx outfielder Brett Gardner before facing the Milwaukee Brewers for the recent opening day match at the Yankee Stadium. The Yankees team held a moment of silence before hitting off with their 2025 MLB season’s opening day match against the Brewers.
After defeating the Milwaukee Brewers with an overall score of 4-2 during the opening day game, Aaron Judge even spoke about Brett Gardner and the sudden demise of his 14-year-son Miller. During the post-game interview, the Yankees captain said-
“He may not have been the big superstar with all the All-Stars and MVPs and this and that, but this guy was a leader for all of us. A second dad to some guys.”The Yankees captain turned emotional while talking about his ex-team member. He said-
“He poured everything into every single guy. If we were having a tough time, he was always there for you to be someone to lean on, someone to joke on.”During the Roll Call conducted by the Yankee Stadium’s Bleacher Creature- Aaron Judge even turned to the stand and carried out Brett Gardner’s signature style. This gesture was based on the popular act by the former Yankees star Gardner. He used to turn towards the stand, bend his knees, and flex his arms during his stint with the Yankees.
Aaron Judge even admitted that Brett Gardner’s family has been on his mind ever since the unfortunate incident took place. Judge and Gardner even represented the New York Yankees from 2016 to 2021. The unfortunate news about the sudden death of the former Yankees' athlete Brett Gardner's son Miller just a few days before the official opening day of the 2025 MLB season. Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Agency concluded that Miller Gardner died due to asphyxiation followed by possible food poisoning.
