His great offensive skills not only diverted the attention of the MLB world but also earned words of praise from the San Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt.
During a post-game interview with the MLB Network, Padres’ manager Mike Shildt not only spoke about the victory of the team but also revealed being impressed by Fernando Tatis Jr.’s athletic prowess. He said-
“He is getting his pitches; he is using the whole field, not doing too much. He is taking his walks. If Fernando Tatis, you know, takes his walks and manages the strike zone, like he is doing now, we are going to continue to see what you are seeing now, and that is elite.”

He further mentioned
“Elite offensive capability. You know, he stayed on and drove through one that, you know, hit pretty damn good—a big swing.”
As reported by the reputed media outlet The San Diego Tribune, infielder Jake Cronenworth reflected on the mindset of the team. He said-
“I think the biggest thing is the group. A lot of the guys are the same. We all felt it. We saw what it looked like. And it’s one of those things when it works, you have the offseason to think about it, and everybody comes back to spring training, and you see the same familiar faces. It’s kind of like, let’s just keep doing what we’re doing.”

The San Diego Padres would be facing the Oakland Athletics again on April 8, 2025, during the second game of the three-game series in Sutter Health Park.
