Just another gut punch for the Los Angeles Angels, and it wasn't just on the scoreboard. Superstar centre fielder Mike Trout heads on another trip to the injured list with a weight-bearing bruise, putting another hold on his 2025 campaign. This is quite the gut punch for a team trying to stay buoyant in the AL West.
Another setback for the Angels' star Mike Trout
Angels announced Sunday that Mike Trout will be sidelined for 10 days with a bone bruise on his left knee. Trout exited Friday night's game limping noticeably, never to return, thereby sending fans into overdrive as to what had happened. Fortunately, there was no injury structurally, but there is swelling and pain keeping him off the field for now.
His season had begun fairly well: 7 homers, 15 RBIs, and a few brief flashes of return-of-kind explosiveness - but this newest injury disrupts his rhythm rather severely once more. `Indeed, the last few seasons of injuries have all limited Mike even further, which brings an added layer of frustration in his otherwise glorious and interrupted career.
Ron Washington, the Angels manager, said,
"It is tough to lose Mike at any time. But we hope it's a short-term thing. He would want to be out there more than anyone."A familiar void in the lineup
Without Mike Trout, the Angels lose some serious power and leadership in the lineup. Younger outfielders Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak will see much more time this season, but they certainly won't be given a chance to replicate what Trout brings in terms of production at the plate and out in the field.
With him gone, it will be an uphill struggle for the Angels to remain competitive in a tight division.
Time is running out for the Los Angeles Angels
April has not been kind to the Angels, and now it is a race against time. With Mike Trout down, the urgency builds for a team trying to find its form. His return is very likely if rehabilitation goes well, but there is no room for the Angels to slip up in the meantime.
