The wait is finally over. Red Bull Racing officially unveiled its 2025 Formula One car – the RB21 – on Tuesday. The team released the first images of the new-look car and described it as “an evolution of a generation of Red Bulls.” The RB21 replaces the RB20, the car with which Max Verstappen secured his fourth world title. The new machine has been designed by Adrian Newey.
When RB21 will hit the track
Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson will drive RB21 for the first time during a filming day at the Bahrain International Circuit on Tuesday before taking it into Formula 1's pre-season testing, which begins at the same venue on Wednesday.
Red Bull's technical director Pierre Wache emphasised the efforts that went into developing the car for the new season. "The main thing that you are trying to achieve is a balance between making a car that is quicker than the others and making it nice to drive so that drivers can extract the most from it," Wache told Motorsport.com. "You know that if you increase the (operating) window you also reduce the overall potential.
"In 2023 we were proved that our direction was correct because we were quicker than the others. Last season, we were proved that we were not correct. Every time there is a limit when the balance takes the benefit compared to the overall potential of the car. We have to fix it for this year."
The RB19 remains Red Bull’s most dominant car, having clinched 21 victories in 22 Grands Prix during the 2023 season. Red Bull has secured six Constructors' Championships – in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2022, and 2023. The team has also won eight Drivers' Championships – in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
