India vs Australia PM XI Warm-up Match Highlights: Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Harshit Rana star in India's six-wicket win

A fit-again Shubman Gill struck a stylish half-century easing concerns over his thumb injury while skipper Rohit Sharma batted at No.4 and fell cheaply, leaving questions over his position and form for the second Test as India eased past Australia Prime Minister's XI in the pink-ball warm-up in Canberra on Sunday.

After big-hearted Harshit Rana picked a four-for, restricting PM XI to 240, India chased down the target in 42.5 overs but batted their full quota of allotted 46 overs.

Experienced Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah opted for net practice against each other instead of the warm-up game, a tactical decision that prevented the Australian side from gathering data on their performance.

So, after India successfully chased down 241, they wanted to utilize the remaining deliveries, continuing with the match.

Jack Clayton, Matt Renshaw and Jack Clayton bowled the remaining three overs for PM XI, where Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed.

Washington Sundar hit a few lusty blows while Devdutt Padikkal (4*) also knocked around a few balls.

Sundar remains unbeaten on 42.

So, a practice well done ahead of the second Adelaide Test that starts from December 6.

That's it! Victory for India against Prime Ministers XI in this pink-ball warm-up game in Canberra. But they will bat the full 46 overs!

Chasing 241, Washington Sundar and Srafaraz Khan get India across the finish line with 19 balls to spare.

After the opening day of the game was washed out, rain played spoilsport once again on Day 2 as the match was reduced to 46-overs-per-side.

However, Harshit Rana (4/44) led Indian attack, made the good use of conditions, restricting the Prime Ministers XI to 240. Opener Sam Konstas did hit a ton for the hosts but apart from him, Hanno Jacobs (61) and Jack Clayton (40) no one really got going. India had rested Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin as the likes of Siraj, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar and Jadeja were all among wickets.

While chasing the total, openers played a solid hand but Rohit Sharma scoring just 3 was a big disappointment.

Virat Kohli also did not bat for India but a solid 47 from Jaiswal and Shubman Gill fifty laid the ground for a successful chase.

FOUR! FOUR! FOUR! Washington Sundar takes Jack Nisbet to the cleaners, smacking him for three consecutive boundaries on both sides of the ground. The first hit from Sundar was a glorious cover drive and he then followed it up with a cracking hit to the deep mid-wicket fence. The third delivery from Nisbet was a no ball but Sundar jabbed it to third-man fence.

OUT! Looking to end the game in a hurry, Ravindra Jadeja tries to slog one on the one side but mistimes. And Matt Renshaw has his first wicket of the evening. A wicket off the last ball of the over. A mistimed hit from Jadeja shoots straight up as Renshaw takes the skier with ease. Jadeja walks back for 31-ball 27.

Aidan O Connor bowls an over-pitched delivery outside off and Sundar's eyes just lit up.

He presses his front foot forward and effortlessly drives the ball to deep extra-cover fence.

FOUR! Bang! Lloyd Pope bowls up a juicy, tossed up delivery full on middle and leg. Jadeja clears his front foot and smacks it to the deep mid-wicket fence with absolute ease. India 194/3 in 35.3 overs

At the end of the 33rd over, Shubman Gill retires out for 50 and the very next ball -- Nitish Reddy walks back too!

OUT! Timber! A big breakthrough for Prime Ministers XI as Lloyd Pope knocks over a dangerous Nitish Reddy for 42.

Looking to play Lloyd across the line, Nitish went for the big hoick on the on side. Misses the ball completely as it crashes straight into his off stump.

A solid knock this has been from Shubman Gill. He raises his half-century off just 62 balls with a comfortable single off Aidan O’Connor.

It was a full delivery into the pads from O’Connor and Gill pushed it effortlessly to fine-leg fielder to get to his fifty.

After missing out on the first Test due to a fractured thumb, Gill has pulled off a superb knock in this day-night game against Prime Ministers XI.

SIX! FOUR! India and Nitish Reddy looking in a hurry now. Nitish goes after Aidan O’Connor, whacking him for consecutive boundaries.

FOUR! Shubman Gill goes up and over! Lovely shot from the India youngster. A flighted delivery from Lloyd Pope outside off and Gill went inside-out and placed the ball to perfection. The fielder at long-off had absolutely no chance to cut it off. Gill moves to 49 at the end of 32nd over.

FOUR! FOUR! FOUR! Nitish Reddy takes Lloyd Pope to the cleaners, smoking three consecutive boundaries at the start of his second over.

On the first ball, Reddy advanced down the track and hammered the ball to the long-off fence.

He then smacked the very next ball to deep mid-wicket and followed it up with a lovely reverse-hit, beating the backward-point fielder to the fence.

Reddy now looking in really good touch as India accelerate in their pursuit of 241.

With those three consecutive boundaries from Reddy, 150 also came up for Team India!

As Scott Boland ends the seven-run 29th over, Shubman Gill and Nitish Reddy have now added 50 runs together off just 56 balls. Both steadily taking India closer towards the target. Gill has got to 36 while Reddy is batting on 14. Leggie Lloyd Pope to continue from the other end for PM XI.

After the end of 27 overs, India have 128 runs on the board and Gill and Reddy have already added 38 runs off 43 balls.

Both have focussed on rotating the strike but have also capitalized on bad balls.

Leggie Lloyd Pope now comes into the attack for Prime Ministers XI.

0 0 0 0 0 N 4 - A returning Scott Boland bowls 5 dot balls in a row and a no ball and then Shubman Gill ends the over with a flashy drive that takes the ball to third-man fence.

It was a full and wide delivery outside off from Boland and Gill went for the shot.

Gets the outside edge as the ball travels quickly between the slip and the gully fielders and races to the fence.

FOUR! Deft touch! Charlie Anderson bowls a full ball outside off and Shubman Gill plays it late and with soft hands. Gets a thick-ish edge as it goes between the two slips and gully fielders to to third-man fence. With that boundary from Gill, 100 also came up for India at the end of 23 overs

OUT! India skipper Rohit Sharma has a very short stay in the middle in the warm-up game against Prime Ministers XI.

He walks back after scoring just 3 runs.

A lovely back of length delivery outside off Charlie Anderson and it kept on going away from the batter after pitching.

A tentative Rohit went after it and only managed an outside edge. The ball goes straight into the hands of Oliver Davies at first slip.

At the end of the 18th over, KL Rahul retires and walks back to the pavilion and cheers from the fans.

Rahul played a solid hand, and looked in really good touch during his 44-ball 27 knock under lights.

India skipper Rohit Sharma, who missed the first Test, comes in at No.4 slot ahead of Virat Kohli.

It is also likely that Kohli would not even come out to bat and Rohit has an extended stay in the middle against this pink-ball.

Looking to go big against Anderson down the ground, Jaiswal cleared his front leg, went for the hoick but mistimed. The ball shot straight up. As the ball went high, Jack Clayton waited patiently under the ball and eventually caught it with ease at cover.

25 runs scored in the last two overs as India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul shift gears against the Prime Ministers XI.

After Charlie Anderson leaked three boundaries in the previous over, Mahli Beardman leaks 13 runs in his third over of the innings.

A couple of boundaries were hit by Rahul in the Beardman over to third-man and deep backward-point fence and Jaiswal then ended the 14th over with a lovely hit down the ground to the long-off fence.

Jaiswal welcomes Anderson to the crease with three fours in the over to move to 31. Rahul on 14. India reach 48 for 0 in 12.5 overs.

India have negotiated the difficult period of initial 10 overs and have reached 34/0 in 11 overs while chasing 241 to win in 46 overs. Jaiswal batting on 18, Rahul on 13.

Right-arm pacer Mahlie Beardman comes into the attack, replacing Nisbet. He has just one first-class game to his name. India 28/0, Jaiswal batting on 16, Rahul on 10. Target: 241 in 46 overs.

Boland vs Rahul continues, and the Indian opener comes out on top again with a beautiful drive straight back for a four. Pleasing to the eye and shows that he is much high on confidence after his 77 in the Perth Test. He moves to 9 and India to 25 for no loss.

This should give Rahul much confidence. A well-executed extra-cover drive for four against Boland. India 21/0 in 7 overs, chasing 241 to win in 46 overs.

Jaiswal (14*) tries to break the shackles with a big heave againsts Nisbet, ends up getting a thick edge that flies over the gully region for a four. The next ball sees another thick edge that flies over the slips for another four.

The PM XI new-ball bowlers are making the pink ball talk to put both Jaiswal (6*) and Rahul (1*) guessing. India 8/0 in 4 overs, chasing 241 to win in 46 overs.

It ended up in an edge that went for four, but the late swing opening Jaiswal up. The ball flies through between slip and gully. India 7/0 in 2 overs.

Is that a sign that Rohit may bat in the middle order in the Adelaide Test? KL Rahul retains his opening spot from the Perth Test, where he looked good in his knocks of 26 and 77. Yashasvi Jaiswal partnering him. Scott Boland opening bowling for PM XI.

India need 241 to win in 46 overs. The 50-over-a-side game, which was agreed upon by both the teams after the first day was washed out, was further reduced to 46 overs per side after a rain interruption early in PM XI innings.

Rana's 4/44 was the pick of Indian bowlers. His four wickets came in the space of six balls, reducing the PM XI from 131/2 to 133/6, while the 19-year-old Konstas kept going strong to bring up his century (107). Akash took 2/58, while Jadeja, Sundar, Krishna and Siraj struck once each. Hanno Jacobs (61) and Jack Clayton (40) also played significant knocks to push the score to 240 after a middle-order collapse. It won't be easy for India as the pink ball does more under the lights.

Washington Sundar takes the last wicket to dimiss Jacobs for 61, a brilliant diving grab by Jadeja at mid-wicket.

Akash Deep strikes to end Sam Konstas's brilliant 107-run knock, which also breaks the 67-run partnership. Caught by Navdeep Saini while attempting a big shot. PM XI 205/8 in 38 overs.

Konstas takes a couple off Jadeja to bring up PM XI's 200 in 36.5 overs. From 131/2 to 138/7 to 200/7. It's been a roller-coaster innings.

With the game reduced to 46-overs-a-side affair, the PM XI innings is now into the death overs, as the scorecard reads 194 for 7, with Konstas on 101 and Jacobs on 32.

Has he thrown his hat in the ring for that opener's spot for the third Test against India, if not second. Brings up a brilliant century off 90 balls, including 14 fours and 1 six. PM XI 187/7 in 35 overs.

Teams can use all their players, which allows India to bring Jadeja into the attack for some pink-ball practice. PM XI 180/7 in 34 overs.

The right-arm pacer bowled seven overs in his first spell, giving away 41 runs. PM XI 173/7. Konstas (94*) and Jacobs (19*) have now added 35 runs for the 8th wicket.

Seam-up all-rounder Reddy, who had a successful Test debut in Perth with the bat, has been pressed into service by India.
