This 15-day journey, starting from Delhi, will showcase the cultural and natural beauty of five North Eastern states, covering Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has unveiled an exciting new travel offering with the launch of the "North East Discovery" tour aboard the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train. The 15-day journey, set to commence on April 22, 2025, from Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station, promises to showcase the rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty of five North Eastern states. Covering approximately 5,800 kilometers, this tour aligns with the Government of India’s "Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat" and "Dekho Apna Desh" initiatives to promote domestic tourism.
Kaziranga
The itinerary spans Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, visiting key destinations such as Guwahati, Itanagar, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Unakoti, Udaipur, Dimapur, Kohima, Shillong, and Cherrapunji. Tourists can board the train from multiple points, including Delhi, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, and Kanpur, making it accessible to a wide audience. The journey kicks off in Guwahati, where passengers will explore the revered Kamakhya Temple, Umananda Temple, and enjoy a sunset cruise on the Brahmaputra River.
The train then proceeds to Naharlagun Railway Station, a 30-kilometer journey from Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh. Next, it stops at Sivasagar, the historic Ahom Kingdom capital in Assam, featuring the iconic Sivadol temple and heritage sites like Talatal and Rang Ghar. The tour continues to Jorhat for a visit to its famed tea gardens and an overnight stay at Kaziranga, followed by an early morning jungle safari at Kaziranga National Park. From Furkating Railway Station, the train heads to Tripura, where passengers will deboard at Kumarghat to visit Unakoti, known as the "Angkor Wat of North East," and Agartala, home to Ujjayanta Palace, Neermahal Palace, and Tripura Sundari Mandir.

The journey continues to Dimapur in Nagaland, featuring a picturesque train ride from Badarpur Station to Lumding Junction. From there, travelers take a bus to Kohima to immerse themselves in the rich Naga culture at Khonoma village. After returning to Guwahati, the tour proceeds by road to Shillong, including a scenic stop at Umiam Lake. Highlights in and around Shillong include an excursion to Cherrapunji and visits to attractions such as Shillong Peak, Elephant Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, and the Mawsmai Caves. The adventure wraps up with a return train ride back to Delhi.

The Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist Train is equipped with modern amenities, including two fine dining restaurants, a contemporary flameless kitchen, shower cubicles, sensor-based washrooms, foot massagers, a mini library, and enhanced security features like CCTV cameras, electronic safes, and dedicated guards. Accommodation options include AC I (Superior), AC II (Deluxe), and AC III (Comfort), with all-inclusive package prices starting at INR 1,16,905 for AC III, INR 1,29,915 for AC II, INR 1,49,815 for AC I (Cabin), and INR 1,67,845 for AC I (Coupe) per person. The package covers train travel, AC hotel stays, vegetarian meals, bus transfers, sightseeing, travel insurance, and guided tours.
