Heatwave warnings have been issued everywhere! In a recent update, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and several other districts in Maharashtra, warning of rising heat and humidity. Residents are advised to take precautions and stay safe as conditions are expected to worsen in the coming days. The yellow alert is valid for the next three days for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg.
So the yellow alert means such conditions that require caution. It urges people to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. This advisory coincides with unusual weather fluctuations in the state, as parts of Maharashtra continue to experience unseasonal rainfall—an uncommon phenomenon for this time of year.
Experts say this combination of erratic rainfall and early temperature spikes is indicative of a harsher and earlier onset of summer. As per IMD, temperatures across the state are expected to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius until April 11.
Temperatures in different places

In Mumbai, the Santacruz weather station recorded a minimum temperature of 24°C and a maximum of 33.8°C on Sunday. These figures, while not extreme, mark a steady upward trend and signal worsening conditions in the days ahead.
Besides Maharashtra, similar alerts have been issued for Delhi and several districts in Madhya Pradesh also. In Madhya Pradesh, places like Gwalior, Chambal, Sheopur, Guna, Ashok Nagar, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Neemuch, and Mandsaur are forecast to experience severe heat.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan is also witnessing a sharp rise in temperature. Forecasts predict that the southwestern parts of the state could reach highs of 44�?5°C, while eastern Rajasthan may see temperatures ranging from 42 to 44°C in the coming week.

With heat intensifying across northern and central India, the IMD is advising citizens to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun—especially during peak afternoon hours—and seek shelter in cooler environments. While the yellow alert does not signal immediate danger, it is a clear warning to stay alert and take proactive steps to prevent heat-related health risks.
