But if your Tulsi plant is wilting or dying because of the harsh summers, here are a few tips on how to protect and revive it.

One of the most common reasons why a plant wilts in summer is the dryness that comes with hot summer winds. So, make sure the topsoil is not dry for extended periods of time, and during peak heatwaves, make sure to water the plant twice a day.

Sometimes, the plant also starts to wilt because the soil has become clumped and isn't absorbing the water well. So, if nothing works, try to take the plant out of the pot, loosen the soil a little from the roots, and repot into fresh soil.

When the sun is at its peak, shade the plant! The excess sunlight will scorch the leaves, make them yellow, and also dry out the branches. So either bring the plant inside with no direct sunlight or shade it under a cooler spot.

Another thing to do during peak summers is to remove or trim any dead or damaged leaves. This will not just help the plant focus its energy on producing fresh leaves but will also improve air circulation.

Although Tulsi leaves bloom better with minimal fertilisation, it is best to avoid it during summers. As the plant is already under stress because of the heat, fertilisation could damage the leaves and stunt growth.

During hot summer months, stagnant air will lead to a dry environment, which is not good for the plant. So try to keep the Tulsi plant somewhere with good air circulation.

Once a month or twice a month, spray a mix of neem oil and water on the Tulsi plant to remove the chance of any pests or insects eating it. Check the leaves for any white insects or flies, and if you see any, spray the mixture directly on the leaves.
