Hours after Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of Atlantic wrote the firsthand account of how he was ‘accidentally’ added to Trump’s national security team’s Signal group chat, which discussed their plans to bomb Yemen, the internet erupted with memes. While the world is still in disbelief of how such highly classified information about US military strikes on Yemen could happen over a messaging app, the netizens are going frenzy.
Mike Waltz added the Atlantic journalist to the Signal group, while Pete Hegseth discussed war plans in the group.

According to the journalist, the chat group named ‘Houthi PC small group’ had top officials from national security - US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, Senior Trump adviser Stephen Miller, National Security Adviser Michael Waltz, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Stephen Miller, White House Deputy Chief of Staff, Joe Kent, Trump’s nominee to lead the National Counterterrorism Center, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, Treasury and, Secretary Scott Bessent.

Though the leak has drawn extreme criticism towards the Trump’s administration, and its top officials, and gravity of the situation, internet seems to be amused by the whole turn of events. Take a look.

“I'd put adding a journalist to your secret 'bomb Yemen' group chat right up there with accidentally texting your wife "She just left, be there in a minute baby" when you meant to send it to your jump-off,” a netizen wrote on X.

Another netizen fictionalized the whole incident and posted a meme as if all of the officials from the chat sitting in a meeting room along with the journalist picturized as the Sesame Street character Big Bird.

Another netizen imagined what would have happened if the journalist 'left the group'. "It’s very serious business obviously but I do think it’s very funny imaging how they all felt when they saw the “Jeffrey Goldberg has left the chat” notification.“Oh goddammit” Like was there a discussion about trying to “get ahead of it”? Was someone like “Maybe we should call him and see if there’s a deal to be made here,” wrote one.

One X user said that she will be renaming her family group chat to 'secret war plans' because "someone is always sending something stupid in there."

A Bluesky user joked, "I woke up this morning to texts from Pete Hegseth warning me I had unpaid EZ Pass tolls."
