Natural Star
Nani recently shared his thoughts about the growing trend of cinematic universes in
Indian cinema. During an interview, the 'Saripodhaa Sanivaaram' actor shared the appeal of interconnected film worlds, such as the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
“Anything that excites the audience is good for cinema”
While speaking with Pinkvilla, mentioned that cinematic universes inspired by Western franchises are now gaining ground in India, with filmmakers like
Lokesh Kanagaraj and Prasanth Varma leading the way. He believes that anything which draws audiences to theatres or generates excitement around a project is ultimately good for cinema. "Anything which excites the audience to come to the theatres or excites them about the project itself is good for cinema,” he said.
Already in the HIT universe, open to joining others
When asked if he would like to be part of such universes, Nani mentioned that he is already involved in one—the 'HIT' universe, where he plays a fierce cop, Arjun Sarkaar. He said that this likely rules out joining Rohit Shetty’s cop universe, but he expressed genuine admiration for Lokesh Kanagaraj's work. "I really like Lokesh Kanagara's work; if something happens, it happens, and I’ll be very happy to be part of it,” Nani shared, leaving the door open for future collaborations if the right opportunity arises.
What is the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU)?
The Lokesh Cinematic Universe, or LCU, has become a major talking point in Indian film circles, starting with Kaithi and expanding with films like 'Vikram' and 'Leo'. More films are rumored to join the LCU.
Meanwhile, Nani's is focused on 'HIT: The Third Case', the third installment in the HIT franchise created by Sailesh Kolanu. The film follows Arjun Sarkaar, a relentless and violent police officer assigned to hunt down a gang of serial killers. The cast includes Srinidhi Shetty, Adil Pala,
Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji, and Maganti Srinath, among others.
The film is releasing in theatres on May 1, 2025.
Nani will also be seen next in 'The Paradise', directed by
Srikanth Odela.
