Allu Arjun’s ‘
Duvvada Jagannadham’ aka ‘
DJ’s Malayalam dub ‘Dhruvaraja Jagannadh’, released with high expectations in Kerala on August 11, 2017.
DJ had opened to mixed reviews in Andhra and Telangana, but went on to be a blockbuster in Telugu. Allu Arjun has a very strong fan-base in Kerala and his last film ‘Sarrainodu’ had stuck gold at the box office in the state.
Now, the dub has released in Kerala in close to 100 screens, but conflicting reports surface as to how the movie fared there.
Some reports state that the film had a disastrous start in Kerala, with many of the night shows cancelled due to lack of booking. They also state that in some theatres, only 12 people turned up to watch the second show.
But other reports state that the movie had houseful occupancy all across Kerala, and at several places, fans celebrated with bands and kavadi dances. They went on to even state that despite clashing with big films like Akshay Kumar’s Toilet and Dhanush and Kajol’s VIP 2, the opening of the film has not been affected.
Only time can tell whether the film fared well or tanked at the Box Office in Kerala. It remains to be seen if the film can recreate the business that ‘Sarrainodu’ aka ‘Yodhavu’ did.
