Actor and director Ramarathnam Sankaran, who has acted in supporting roles in many Tamil films and few Telugu films, passes away. The veteran actor was 92 years old. He is well known in Tamil for his role as Reavthi's father in Karthik-starrer 'Mouna Ragam' directed by Mani Ratnam.

Bharathiraja offered his condolence through his social networking page and wrote in Tamil which translates to, "The demise of my teacher, director Mr.
Ra Sankaran sir hurts. My deep condolences to his family who will be missing him."
He was a prominent name in the Tamil film industry as an artist and an associate director. Some of the other notable films of Ra Sankaran include Oru Kaidhiyin Diary, Pathimoonam Number Veedu, Amaran, Chinna Gounder, Sathi Leelavathi and Kadhal Kottai. He was last seen in director Sundar C 'Azhagarsamy' starring Sathyaraj and Roja in 1999.
Ra. Sankaran directed many Award-Winning Tamil movies such as Velum Mayilum Thunai, Kumari Pennin Ullathile, and many more. Some of his other directorials include, Then Sindhuthe vaanam (1975), Oruvanukku Oruthi (1977) and Dhurga Dhevi (1977).
