'Amaran' featuring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role was released during Diwali, and the film transformed into a huge hit. In the film, a phone number displayed in a scene believed to be Sai Pallavi’s, mistakenly belonged to college student Vaageesan from Chennai. This led to a surge of unsolicited calls from people trying to contact the actress. Despite his complaints, the film's makers haven't responded, and it prompted Vaageesan to file a legal petition demanding Rs 1.1 crore in compensation. Following Vaageesan's legal action the respective scene from 'Amaran' has been chopped from the film now, and the film is streaming on a digital platform excluding the controversy.

After grossing over Rs 320 crore in its first five weeks at the box office, 'Amaran' has made its digital debut on a popular streaming platform from December 5, available in multiple languages. The Sivakarthikeyan starrer continues to receive widespread praise following its digital release, with the film maintaining its momentum as a major talking point on social media. Fans and audiences alike have continued to discuss the film, further solidifying its place as a highly successful and much-talked-about project.


Directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, 'Amaran' features Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, and the movie blends action and emotion, following a gripping storyline. Sivakarthikeyan portrays the role of Major Mukund Varadharajan, a character based on a real-life hero. The dedicated actor underwent a massive transformation for his role as an army man and he grabbed global attention by delivering his career's best box office film. The film has received attention for its strong performances, especially by Sai Pallavi. The film features a dynamic supporting cast and music by GV Prakash Kumar.

Speaking of the film's box office performance, it become the second highest-grossing films in Tamil cinema in 2024. Within the first week the film entered the Rs 100 crore club. According to Sacnilk, 'Amaran' has grossed approximately Rs 331.5 crore worldwide, with around Rs 218 crore coming from the Indian box office alone.
