Govinda is not seen much on-screen now, however, one remembers his long line-up of memorable movies. With his comic timing, screen presence and dance moves, Govinda remains one of the most loved actors in the country. In an interview, Govinda had revealed that he didn't come to Bollywood on his own, the industry chose him.
He said during an old interview on Manish Paul's podcast that when he joined the industry, he had signed 75 movies at the age of 21, "Main film line mein kahan aaya, mujhe film line thamai gayi thi. Upar wale ne film line di thi ki bhaiyya isse sambhaliye (I didn’t enter the film industry; God handed over the responsibility to manage it).”
He further added that, "Shree Dilip Kumar sahab ki kripa rahi mujhpe ke unhone mujhse kaha inmein se 25 films manaa kardo. I told him, 'Main paise khaa chuka hu, lautaunga kaise?', to which Dilip Kumar said that with God's grace, everything will be fine and you will repay the signing amount." The actor added that Dilip Kumar advised him so because he was overworked and had started falling ill on the sets. "I had not slept for 15 days, started getting hospitalised," recalled the actor. Thus, he gave up on those 25 films.
The actor recalled that despite falling sick and coming back from the hospital, he would be back on the set, dancing with full enthusiasm. For those not in the know, Govinda and Dilip Kumar had done a film titled 'Izzatdaar' together.
