Govinda believes that if his success and struggles were placed on a weighing scale, the side with hardships would outweigh the other. Reflecting on his life, the 90s superstar shared that his struggles began from birth due to his family's poor financial situation, despite achieving immense fame later.
In an old interview with Simi Grewal, the actor opened up about his family's challenging journey. His father, actor Aroon, starred in nearly 40 films before turning producer. However, one film's failure drastically altered their lives, forcing them to move from a lavish bungalow in Bandra to a modest house in Virar, on Mumbai’s outskirts.

Govinda reflected on the difficult times his family faced after his father, Aroon, produced a film that failed at the box office. The loss was significant, forcing them to leave their Carter Road bungalow and move to Virar. This marked the start of their financial struggles, which deeply affected the entire family, especially as his father struggled to cope with the setback. Govinda was born during this challenging period.

The superstar shared that after graduating with a commerce degree, he tried his luck by visiting various offices for jobs, even applying at Taj Hotels. However, his lack of English proficiency hindered him from securing the position. Although films weren’t initially his goal, his main motivation was to lift his mother out of hardship and provide her with a better life.
Govinda acknowledged that his drive to succeed stemmed from witnessing his mother’s hardships. He reflected on how her resilience during tough times deeply affected him. Seeing her handle every challenge motivated him to change their circumstances quickly, fueling his determination to achieve stardom and give her a better life.
Govinda's parents, his mother passing in 1996 and his father in 1998, lived to see his remarkable success in the film industry during the 90s. Recently, the actor returned home after being hospitalized for an accidental gunshot wound. His fans continue to support him as he recovers from the incident.
