Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis praises Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava' for not distorting history, reacts to the appeal of making it tax-free

The Mumbai Dabbawala Association and FWICE have requested the Maharashtra Government to make the film about Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj tax-free to reach a wider audience. Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, has acknowledged the appeal but is yet to take a decision on it. Though, he praised the historical accuracy of the film, intending to promote it further.

The Mumbai Dabbawala Association and FWICE had appealed to the Government of Maharashtra to make the film tax-free. A statement was issued by FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) that read, “We appeal that the movie reaches a wider audience as the legacy and courage of this great Maratha king should be known to the generations to come. Our government strongly believes in ‘Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah’, and this movie portrays exactly the same sentiments through the life story of the great Maratha king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj."
The CM of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis has now reacted to this appeal and said, "We will see what best we can do to promote this film and make it available to as many people as possible."
He further praised the film and said he will watch it soon. He said, "I am happy that a very good movie has been made on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. While I have yet to watch it, I have heard from people that this film has been made without distorting history."
Meanwhile, Mumbai is set to witness a grand tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on his 395th birth anniversary with a special screening of 'Chhaava' on Wednesday. he screening will take place at INOX, Nariman Point, where Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will felicitate the film’s team for their remarkable work
'Chhaava' has managed to cross Rs 170 crore at the box office and on day 6, the film may end up crossing Rs 200 crore.
