Priyanka Chopra’s mother,
Madhu Chopra, recently shared her thoughts on parenting and the way children perceive their upbringing. Speaking on Rubina Dilaik’s YouTube channel, she reflected on raising Priyanka and her brother, Siddharth Chopra, while managing a demanding career. She credited her parents for supporting her by taking care of the children during their early years, which allowed her to focus on work without compromising on quality time with them.
Madhu emphasized that while she and her husband, Ashok Chopra, were devoted doctors, they ensured that the time they spent with their children was completely undivided. “There was no interruption at that time. No phone calls, no patients, just 100 percent focus on the kids,” she said, highlighting that her children never felt neglected despite their parents’ busy schedules. However, she also spoke about how some children blame their parents for their struggles in life. Addressing such sentiments, she stated that even if parents made mistakes, they did the best they could. She remarked, “Even if your parents treated you badly, they were doing the best they could. Something was wrong with you which is why they had to change themselves.”
Meanwhile, in another chat with Lehren TV, Madhu Chopra revealed an interesting incident. Dr. Madhu Chopra shared a charming childhood memory of Priyanka, recalling how she once innocently questioned why her name wasn’t on the home's entrance nameplate. “Why is my name not on the home entrance plate? Do I not live in this house?” Priyanka had asked her parents. Touched by her words, Dr. Ashok Chopra and Madhu Chopra promptly ensured that her name was added alongside theirs. Madhu Chopra emphasized that they always valued their children’s opinions, regardless of their age. “We have never belittled their opinions. Everyone’s opinion matters,” she said, highlighting their inclusive approach to parenting.
