At the third edition of SCREEN Live, held at KC College in Mumbai, brothers Bobby and Sunny Deol shared insights into their professional and personal journeys. The event provided a glimpse into the strong bond between the siblings and their reflections on the ups and downs of their careers. Bobby also recounted his unique experience working with his father, Dharmendra, in the classic film 'Dharam Veer'.
Bobby revealed that he was just 5 or 6 years old when his father approached him for the role of young Dharmendra. Dharmendra had been searching for a child who resembled him physically, especially one with strong, sturdy legs, but couldn’t find a suitable candidate. Finally, he decided to ask his son, proposing, "Would you play my childhood role in the film?" Bobby, enthusiastic and fearless as a child, agreed without hesitation, expressing his excitement about acting and how life seemed so simple and wonderful at that age.

What’s Your Favorite On-Screen Moment of Dharmendra?

Reflecting on a memorable moment from the shoot, Bobby spoke about the iconic black leather outfit he had to wear. The costume, which mirrored his father's, was crafted overnight to meet the next day’s shooting schedule. However, Bobby humorously recalled his confusion and discomfort, as he had never worn an outfit like that before. He even asked Bhawarlal, an assistant who worked closely with Dharmendra, for help, expressing concern about not having an appropriate undergarment for the costume. A quick solution was found as a pair of shorts was provided to wear underneath.
Despite the initial awkwardness, Bobby described the experience as beautiful, highlighting how innocent and uninhibited childhood made such moments enjoyable. The story provided a light-hearted and nostalgic insight into the Deol family's camaraderie and Bobby’s early tryst with acting.
