Anu Aggarwal backs Paresh Rawal’s claim of drinking urine for healing, calls it ‘amrit’: ‘I’ve practiced it myself’
Paresh Rawal recently shocked fans with an unexpected health tip, he drank his own urine to heal from a serious knee injury. While the revelation raised eyebrows, actor Anu Aggarwal has now spoken out in support, saying it’s actually an ancient yogic practice that she follows too.
Anu Aggarwal: ‘It’s a very important practice’
Soon after Rawal’s comments made headlines, actress Anu Aggarwal, best known for her role in 'Aashiqui', came forward to show her support. Speaking to Instant Bollywood, she revealed she too has practised urine therapy, known as ‘Amaroli’ in ancient Yoga. “Many people don’t know this… whether it’s ignorance or just a lack of awareness, but drinking urine, which is referred to as Aamroli, is actually a mudra (gesture/practice) in Hatha Yoga. I’ve practiced it myself. All of us have tried it, and it’s a very important practice.”
But Anu explained that not all urine is consumed—there’s a very specific way to do it. She says, “But one crucial thing to remember is that you don’t drink the entire urine stream. Only a specific part of it is consumed, the midstream portion which is considered amrit (nectar). It’s known to help with anti-aging, keeping your skin wrinkle-free… it’s truly amazing not just for health, but overall well-being. I’ve personally experienced its benefits.”
When asked how she responds to people who say it’s not supported by science, she had a powerful answer, “How old is science? Around 200 years. But Yoga? It’s been around for over 10,000 years. So whose wisdom will you trust? I support Yoga. I live Yoga.”

What did Paresh Rawal say?
During an interview with The Lallantop, Paresh Rawal opened up about an injury he suffered while filming the 1996 action film 'Ghatak'. He was hurt during a scene with co-star Rakesh Pandey and rushed to a Hospital in Mumbai by Danny Denzongpa and Tinnu Anand.
While recovering, Rawal got an unusual piece of advice from late action director Veeru Devgan. Teh 'Hera Pheri' actor recalled, “Veeru Devgan came to visit me at Nanavati. When I told him about my injury, he said, ‘Drink your own urine first thing in the morning. All fighters do this. You will never face any problem.’”
Although the idea might sound extreme, the 'Oh My God' actor was willing to try anything to avoid long-term damage. He decided to take the advice seriously and added, “I will sip it like a beer because if I have to follow through, I will do so properly.”
He stuck to the routine for 15 days. To his surprise, and the doctors’ too, his recovery was much faster than expected. The 'Hungama' actor said, “I was told it would take two to two-and-a-half months to heal. But my reports came in one-and-a-half months, and the doctors were shocked.”
