Rachel Zegler discusses 'Snow White', defends herself over backlash on comments

Rachel was recently featured on the cover of the news when she revealed that the new production will not make the whole story about how Snow White searches for her fairy tale love, like the 1937 animated version would have wanted viewers to believe. She said, "She's not going to be dreaming of true love; she's going to be dreaming of becoming the leader she knows she can be." Rachel also noted that the actual film had a romance involving a prince who "literally stalks her," which she called "weird." She said fans won't have to worry about this aspect of the story in the new film, though.

Much has been made of the latest live-action Disney blockbuster: the company's live-action 'Snow White', for which 23-year-old Rachel Zegler was cast. She's talking about the film and public reaction to things she said while recently speaking with Variety.
The new live rendition of Snow White was apparently not without some discontent for a few of the fans when Rachel, who is of Colombian descent, was selected to play a role originally known for being described as having "skin as white as snow." Nevertheless, in this new live-action adaptation, the name Snow White comes from a completely different origin. According to Rachel, this time around, her character was named after surviving a snowstorm as a baby. "The king and the queen wanted to call her Snow White, so they could remind her daily of her strength," she said. According to her, one of the takeaways of this film is being strong and showing resilience, and particularly that calls on young women not only today but for many years after now.

Despite her plans, criticism of Rachel's statements appeared on the internet, and she admitted that criticism depressed her. Comparing with regard to what happened, she then said that it made her sad "because I really think that women can do anything.". But I also think that they can do everything. Rachel said, "I didn't say anywhere that a woman has to choose between career and love," adding, If you want love, then you can't work: or If you want to work, then you can't have a family. It's not true. It's never been true.
